For a while, the question was whether the 2025 version of The Last Great Race on Earth would be the very last. The Iditarod, one of Alaska’s longest-running traditions, was in financial jeopardy. A loss of sponsors put the race at risk, and a state legislative committee denied a $1.4 million funding request. But for now, the race may see another year.
