Having originally opened for bids from host cities last year, World Triathlon has reopened the bidding process for the 2027 World Triathlon Championship Finals, its flagship annual event.
The World Triathlon Championship Finals crown world champions across elite, U23, junior, para, and age-group categories, including mixed relay events.

The 2027 event will follow the 2025 finals scheduled for Wollongong, Australia, and the 2026 World Triathlon Championship Finals, which have been awarded to Pontevedra, Spain.
Previous editions have been hosted in cities such as London, Budapest, Beijing, Chicago, and Abu Dhabi. World Triathlon added that the 2024 finals in Torremolinos, Spain, featured athletes from 61 countries, with participation expected to grow.
The international governing body for triathlon continued to note that “Hosting offers significant economic benefits, drawing over 4,500 international competitors and support personnel, with total participant numbers potentially exceeding 10,000. This can generate an economic impact up to $40 million for the host city.”
The event also attracts a global audience through international TV coverage, online streaming via Triathlonlive.tv, and extensive social media reach, including 2 million annual YouTube views and 39 million TikTok views.
Cities or local organizing committees interested in hosting must submit bids by deadline August 15, 2025. The host city will be announced by October 18, 2025.
