Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) will present its annual awards during the PTR International Tennis Symposium.  The event, which includes 50-plus on court and classroom presentations for tennis teachers and coaches, a trade show and tournament, will be held May 2-5, 2013, at the Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, USA.

Phil Vivian, of London, England, has been named PTR Tester of the Year.

Vivian has coached tennis for more than 35 years, training and developing programs for all ages and levels of players.  He built, owned and managed Holly Park in London, the first tennis club in the United Kingdom dedicated solely to develop junior players. As an LTA Senior Club Coach, Vivian has coached tennis across the UK.

A PTR National Tester for more than 15 years, Vivian has prepared more than 2,000 candidates for PTR's tennis teaching certification testing.  In 1998, Vivian was named PTR UK Professional of the Year for his tireless work for the organization and the game. Currently, Vivian, who coaches at David Lloyd, is setting up a free coaching tennis academy in London, sponsored by the Rochas Foundation in Nigeria and the UK Government.  The academy is designed to offer specialized coaching for promising young players under 12 years old who are aiming for tennis stardom.  He is also aiming to bring the PTR name into the program to enhance coaching opportunities in the future.

PTR is the largest global organization of tennis teaching professionals with more than 14,000 members in 117 countries. It has the greatest percentage of multicultural and women members of any such organization.  PTR is dedicated to educating, certifying and servicing tennis teachers and coaches around the world in order to grow the game.
