Mike Guswiler

Mike Guswiler is president of the West Michigan Sports Commission (WMSC), where he oversees commission operations, the Meijer State Games of Michigan and the championship-caliber Meijer Sports Complex. Under his leadership, the commission has booked 1,433 events attracting more than 2.8 million athletes and visitors, generating $822 million-plus in total estimated economic impact since its inception in 2007. Mike was named by Crain's Grand Rapids Business in the "Grand Rapids 200" (200 Most Influential Business Leaders in West Michigan) in 2023, 2024, and 2025, as well as a 2023 Newsmaker of the Year in Hospitality & Tourism. He also was a Newsmaker of the Year in Sports by the Grand Rapids Business Journal in 2014, 2017, 2018, and 2020 through 2022. Under his leadership, the WMSC also was named Sports Commission of the Year in 2023 (under 500,000 population) by Sports ETA.
