USA Field Hockey is pleased to announce the teams and schedule for the upcoming 2021 Young Men’s and Women’s National Championship. Both tournaments will be held concurrently at the Virginia Beach Regional Training Center in Virginia Beach, Va. from Tuesday, June 15 through Sunday, June 20, and will feature the top players in the country in their respective age groups competing to be crowned national champions.

A full list of all matches can be found here.

“Congratulations to all the players on being selected to compete in the National Championship. We are looking forward to the return of the women’s event with an added twist as the WNT players join the tournament and in doing so increase both the number of teams and the level of competition. On the men’s side it is great to get this new tournament and selection opportunity started. We are excited to see the four teams compete across the two divisions and hopefully this can become a fixture of the men’s calendar going forward”

After the cancellation of the 2020 edition, the return of the Young Women’s National Championship (YWNC) will feature a 10-team pool of top collegiate and post-collegiate athletes and members of the current Rise, U.S U-21 Women’s National Team, National Development Team and USWNT. Each team will play 3 pool games following the International Hockey Federation’s FIH Hockey Pro League points system (Win = 3; Draw = 1; Loss = 0; Shootout Win = 1). Crossover games on the final day will be how teams finish in terms of ranking to determine the placements.

The new Young Men’s National Championship (YMNC) will serve as the initial selection opportunity for the 2021-22 U.S. U-16, U-18 and U-21/U-22 Men’s National Teams. The tournament, which will provide the same high-level, international structured competition environment as the women’s equivalent, will both feature two teams in each of the U-16 and U-22 divisions. Each team will play a three-game series where points will be attributed based on the game won (first game, win = 1 point, second game, win = 2 points, third game, win = 3 points), guaranteeing that the eventual winners will have to overcome a unique scenario on the final day in order to be crowned champions.

USA Field Hockey invites all field hockey enthusiasts to come watch these talented athletes compete. Admission is free.

All games on Field 1 on Sunday, June 20 will be live streamed free provided by Hometown Sports Management. Viewing links will be shared prior to the event day.
