The first group of sports for the 2016 USA Masters Games, July 22-31, 2016, has been confirmed. There are 21 sports in the initial wave. Those sports are as follows: Baseball, Basketball, Bowling, Diving, Figure Skating, Functional Fitness, Golf, Ice Hockey, Martial Arts, Road Racing, Rowing, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Synchronized Swimming, Tennis, Track & Field, Triathlon, Volleyball, Water Polo, and Weightlifting.

There are some special aspects to several of these sports including the fact that Diving will serve as the Masters Diving National Championships, Tennis will include the first-ever Orange Ball National Championships, and Volleyball will feature both court and beach volleyball competition.

“There is something for just about everyone in this initial lineup of sports for next year’s Games,” said Hill Carrow, CEO of the USA Masters Games. “However, we don’t expect this to be the full slate of 2016 USA Masters Games sports, as we still have a handful of additional sports under consideration for the Games. I would expect that we will announce that at least a couple of those will be added to the Games in the not-too-distant future.”
