Home to MTSU Athletics
Murfreesboro is home to Middle Tennessee State University, a proud member of NCAA Conference USA. At the heart of campus is the Murphy Center Complex, featuring Murphy Athletic Center (basketball/volleyball and indoor track), Floyd Stadium (football), Dean Hayes Track and Field Stadium, Reese Smith Baseball Stadium and Alumni Memorial Gym.
Murphy Center seats 10,000 spectators for NCAA basketball, volleyball and other major events. Floyd Stadium accommodates 32,000 fans, offering club-level seating, suites and open-air boxes—with panoramic views of Murfreesboro from the press box.
New to campus, the Stephen & Denise Smith Student-Athlete Performance Center is a state-of-the-art, 85,000-square-foot facility that elevates MTSU’s athletic complex to one of the finest in the Southeast.
This world-class space features the Kevin Byard Strength & Conditioning Center, outfitted with cutting-edge performance technology, the TOA Athletic Training Center, designed for wellness, recovery and injury prevention, a 1,000+ square-foot team meeting room and position-specific breakout rooms, a high-end players’ lounge, team locker room and coaching offices, the SRM Concrete Club, an upscale hospitality space ideal for VIPs and fans.

Soccer Excellence
Soccer takes center stage with 39 fields countywide, anchored by the Richard Siegel Soccer Complex—a premier $13 million facility with 21 fields and a championship stadium. A recent $13.5 million expansion added seven synthetic turf fields and a 110,000 sq. ft. indoor soccer training facility, making it one of the Southeast’s most advanced soccer destinations.
Adams Tennis Complex
This world-class facility, developed through a partnership between MTSU and Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation, offers eight indoor courts and 24 outdoor courts (16 lighted). With climate control, electronic scoreboards, a pro shop, locker rooms and a mezzanine for viewing, it’s an outstanding venue for tournaments year-round.
Tennessee Miller Coliseum
At 220,000 square feet, the Tennessee Miller Coliseum is a versatile venue for equestrian events, sports competitions and trade shows. With a capacity for 498 horse stalls and 4,600 spectators, it has hosted a range of events, including the USDA Cynosport Dog Agility World Games to the Tennessee State Archery Championships.
Outstanding Amenities
In addition to the facilities mentioned, Rutherford County offers 39 baseball and softball fields at complexes like Barfield Crescent Park, Star*Plex, McKnight Park, Cedar Stone Park and Veterans Memorial Park. There are also several state-of-the-art bowling centers in Smyrna and Murfreesboro, offering participants 126 lanes for tournaments or fun. To complement all these amazing facilities, sports planners will find five public golf courses, five-disc golf courses and 32 pickleball courts across Rutherford County.
