USA Swimming Announces Host Cities for 2020 Toyota US Open
11 Nov, 2020
USA Swimming has confirmed the nine selected host sites for the 2020 Toyota US Open event, which runs from November 12-14, 2020.
The targeted goal is for athletes to compete across the country in:
- Beaverton, Oregon;
- Des Moines, Iowa;
- Greensboro, North Carolina;
- Huntsville, Alabama;
- Indianapolis, Indiana;
- Irvine, California;
- Richmond, Virginia;
- San Antonio, Texas; and
- Sarasota, Florida.
While the tentpole autumn/fall event has traditionally featured 700-800 athletes in one location, the multi-site Toyota US Open will allow for more than 1,800 athletes to compete asynchronously from coast to coast. Events will consist of four-timed finals sessions and both a women’s and men’s flight per session.
All local, state and federal health guidelines will be strictly adhered to at each competition site and entry limits will reflect these local restrictions. Results from each site will be combined by USA Swimming and published in a comprehensive results report.
The long-course event, held almost exactly seven months ahead of the US Olympic Team Trials – Swimming in Omaha, June 13-20, 2021, will be live-streamed from the Irvine location on usaswimming.org. A one-hour broadcast will then air on NBC on Sunday, November 15, from 15:00-16:00 ET.
