Eugene Cascades & Coast Sports has announced that construction is underway at Willamalane Center for Sports and Recreation.

The improved facility is expected to have new fields plus amenities for spectators added to the Springfield facility. The projects (funded by a voter-approved bond measure) should be completed September 2014 following six months of work.

Two new artificial turf sports fields are going in, and will be used for soccer, softball, and baseball. The two existing fields will see improvements as well.

Morrisette Field will receive new AstroTurf for football, soccer, and lacrosse. Grandstand seating will be installed at adjacent Kelly Field, which will become a dedicated soccer field for Northwest Christian University and the semi-pro Lane United Football Club.

Other improvements will include more parking spaces, new lighting, a picnic shelter, and additional restrooms. In addition, two 90-foot-long outdoor bocce ball courts were also installed and recently opened.
