The 2017-18 NBA season tipped off Sept. 30 with two preseason games. The regular season won’t begin until Oct. 17, but it runs until June. Which means we’ve got plenty of time to ponder the possibilities of a fourth straight NBA Finals featuring the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. Here are some other numbers to consider:

8:  The number of days earlier this year’s season begins than last year’s season, in an effort to reduce back-to-back games

44.9: Economic impact, in millions of dollars, for the state of Louisiana for hosting the 2017 NBA All-Star Game at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans

1,440: Average amount, in dollars, visitors spent above and beyond prepaid packages that covered tickets and, in some cases, hotels

13.7: Percent increase in the number of eating and drinking establishments between 2006 and 2016 within 1 mile of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat arena, where LeBron James has played for the home team

23.5: Percent increase in employment at those establishments

0: Number of paper tickets available this season for the Miami Heat, the first NBA team to employ mobile-only access

21,680: Average home attendance at 41 Chicago Bulls games during the 2016-17 season, highest in the NBA

14,770: Average home attendance over 41 Denver Nuggets games last season, lowest in the NBA

3.3: Net worth, in billions of dollars, of the New York Knicks, the most valuable NBA team

750: New worth, in millions of dollars, of the New Orleans Pelicans, the lest valuable team in the NBA

29: Age, in years, of the BMO Harris Bradley Center, home of the Milwaukee Bucks, which will move into the Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center for the 2018-19 season

28: Number of years the Detroit Pistons played at The Palace of Auburn Hills before moving into Little Caesars Arena this season

5: Number of NBA games that will be played on Christmas Day

2: Number of NFL games scheduled for Christmas Day

0: Number of NHL games on Christmas Day

0: Number of NBA head coaching changes, entering 2017 training camps

16: Number of NBA teams (as of Sept. 21) wearing ad patches on their uniforms, a league first

60: Amount, in millions of dollars, of a three-year uniform patch deal between the Golden State Warriors and Japanese tech holding company Rakuten

6: Number of NBA players who wore “00” on their jersey during the 2016-17 season

14: Number of NBA players whose uniform number didn’t belong to any other player last season.

233: Amount, in millions of dollars, of the contract Russell Westbrook signed in late September that will keep him with the Oklahoma City Thunder for the next six seasons; it is the biggest contract in NBA history

2: Number of games the Brooklyn Nets will play at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City in early December — marking the 25th and 26th times Mexico has hosted NBA games since 1992

1: Number of games The O2 in London will host this season — the eighth regular-season NBA game in that city

265: Number of international media members from more than 35 countries and territories that received credentials to cover the 2017 NBA Finals
