Renny Vandewege is General Manager of Weather and Climate Intelligence at DTN, where he leads the strategy, vision and direction for delivering innovative weather solutions to customers across a wide range of industries, including sports management.
With extensive experience in weather intelligence, Vandewege has built a career spanning operational meteorology, academia, sales and broadcast journalism. A strong advocate for helping organizations leverage weather intelligence as a strategic resource for planning, preparedness and response, he has played a key role in shaping DTN's approach to delivering real-time forecasting and decision support to customers worldwide. At DTN, he has also led teams of more than 200 operational meteorologists across the company's global weather operations centers.
Prior to joining DTN, Vandewege led sales at Weather Decision Technologies and served as Director of the Broadcast Meteorology Program at Mississippi State University. He began his career as a broadcast meteorologist in Meridian, Mississippi and Kansas City, Missouri, and earned a master's degree in meteorology from Mississippi State University.
His experience covering Hurricane Katrina as it made landfall in Mississippi provided firsthand insight into both the devastating impacts of extreme weather and the remarkable resilience of businesses and communities. That experience continues to shape his belief that weather intelligence is one of the most powerful, yet often underutilized, tools organizations can use to make better decisions.
In addition to his leadership role at DTN, Vandewege is a host on DTNsights podcast, Forbes contributor and serves on the PRIMET Board of Directors.
