Leader in Physiological Assessment Technology, Omegawave will Sponsor April Event
Omegawave, a leader in physiological assessment technology, has been named the Title Sponsor of the 2013 Omegawave World Triathlon San Diego, slated for April 18-20, in Mission Beach, California
The Omegawave service, previously used only in professional sports, is a revolutionary physiological feedback tool that quickly, non-stressfully and non-invasively assesses an individual's readiness for training. Utilizing the Omegawave ECG Sensor Belt and a mobile application, the Omegawave service provides confidence to train hard when ready, and to rest when necessary. Until now, valuable data like this could only be obtained under laboratory conditions. The outcome is improved athletic performance, fitness and overall health.
One of just eight International Triathlon Union (ITU) World Triathlon Series events around the globe in 2013, the second edition of the Omegawave World Triathlon San Diego will feature an Olympic-caliber elite field competing on a historic course adjacent to the birthplace of the sport.
"We are thrilled to partner with Omegawave as our Title Sponsor of ITU World Triathlon San Diego. We share a common vision to provide athletes with the proper tools and opportunities to achieve their goals and reach their fullest potential," said Jamey Sunshine, Lagardère Unlimited Senior Vice President, Corporate Partnerships. "As the only ITU World Triathlon Series event in North America, we look forward to building a successful partnership while continuing to showcase the world's best athletes in the birthplace of the sport."
The Omegawave World Triathlon San Diego is co-produced by USA Triathlon and the Hamburg, Germany-based UpSolut Sports AG and Lagardère Unlimited.
"We are very excited to be the Title Sponsor of the 2013 World Triathlon San Diego. Supporting triathlon is a natural fit for Omegawave, and this San Diego event provides a unique opportunity to showcase our new service to all elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts, and together with the ITU, promote the growth of triathlon worldwide," said Juha Pinomaa, CEO of Omegawave.
In addition to the elite and paratriathlon races, the Omegawave World Triathlon San Diego features top-flight Olympic- and sprint-distance age-group races, as well as an Olympic-distance relay and an aquabike event, offering amateurs the chance to compete in the same epic venue as the world's best athletes. The 2013 Omegawave World Triathlon San Diego also serves as the USA Triathlon Club National Championships.
Over 2,100 amateur triathletes from ages 14-to-90-years-old from 42 states and 16 countries competed at the 2012 World Triathlon San Diego. Visit sandiego.triathlon.org for more information on the 2013 event.
Launched in February 2013, a new cloud and smartphone-based Omegawave mobile service is now available, too, for every fitness enthusiast and competitive athlete looking to improve his or her sports performance.
The Omegawave service puts professional sports science into every athlete's hands with measurements taken in two minutes, while at rest and prior to activity via the Omegawave ECG Sensor Belt. The belt measures and records data that analyzes cardiac readiness and adaptation reserves. The Omegawave mobile application then provides the results in the form of personalized training advice, recovery guidelines and aerobic readiness trends directly on the user's smart phone or tablet computer.
Omegawave's physiological feedback is designed to help athletes make smarter decisions on training type, intensity and rest, and to prevent overtraining and injuries in order to reach their goals in the most effective way.
Based on research in sports science and space medicine, Omegawave provides leading methods for monitoring an athlete's functional condition. Omegawave provides instantly relevant advice on the optimum amount of intensity and volumes of training. By identifying an athlete's physiologically limiting factors and providing guidelines to eliminate them, Omegawave helps to improve performance, prevent overtraining, decrease injuries and improve fitness and overall health. Omegawave technology has been used by multiple Olympic Federations; premier soccer teams such as FC Barcelona; teams from the NFL, MLS and NHL; and various other leading sports organizations. The company's global headquarters are in Espoo, Finland.
