UGC EDU Online Battle Academy esports event series offers high school and college students competitive events geared toward career development.
LG Business Solutions USAtoday announced the renewal of its sponsorship of the collegiate esports multi-game tournament series, Battle Academy, after a highly successful first season in 2020 that saw multiple participants recruited to and offered scholarships by various universities and colleges. According to LG Business Solutions USA gaming monitor expert Aaron Addison, the Battle Academy series of esports competitions has opened the eyes of students and educators to what the future of esports looks like, and how it can be woven into education as both a career path and a collegiate-level competitive sport.

At the same time, educational institutions across the country are recognizing and focusing on esports as a collegiate pursuit that ensures modernity, relevance to today’s students, and a competitive advantage for prospective enrollment. By launching this tournament, UGC, LG and various other sponsors are giving students and colleges a way to jumpstart their programs and encourage the growth and development of official school esports teams.
The first two seasons, winter 2020 and spring 2021, are showing players, parents and educators just how meaningful and beneficial an organized, education-focused competition league can be. To date, Battle Academy has held tournaments for the popular games Rocket League and VALORANT, with additional titles planned for summer and subsequent seasons in 2021.
