The Wisconsin Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (WPGA) presents an exciting lineup of venues for the 2025 Wisconsin State Open Series, including Blackwolf Run (Kohler), and Destination Geneva National – Player Course (Lake Geneva). The lineup touches three different areas of the state and brings some of the most talented golfers with ties to the state of Wisconsin together. For the first time the Sentry Wisconsin State Women’s Open will be played in the La Crosse area. The Suter Ward Group at Morgan Stanley Wisconsin State Open will again expand its field size and feature a two-course lineup for the third time in the past seven years.

“Once again, the Wisconsin PGA is proud to present a Wisconsin State Open Series course lineup that truly stretches across the state,” said Chris Hoel, assistant executive director of WPGA. “We are excited to utilize two of the top resorts and one of the best private courses this state has to offer.”

2025 Wisconsin State Open Series

  • August 18-20 – 105th Suter Ward Group at Morgan Stanley Wisconsin State Open at Blackwolf Run (Kohler)

  • September 2-3 – 41st Wisconsin State Senior Open at Destination Geneva National – Player Course (Lake Geneva)

The marquee event of the series, the 105th Suter Ward Group at Morgan Stanley Wisconsin State Open will return to Blackwolf Run for the 10th time. After co-hosting the State Open with Pine Hills Country Club in 2021, Blackwolf Run will go at it solo and offer participants the challenge of playing both the Meadow Valleys and River Courses this year.

Each player will play 18 holes on the Meadow Valleys Course and 18 holes on the River Course on the first two days of the championship. The field will then be cut to the low 60 scores & ties and the final 36 holes will be played on the Meadow Valleys Course on Wednesday. The year’s field size will be expanded to 186 players from 156 players last year.

“We are very fortunate to have a world-class facility like Blackwolf Run as the host of the Wisconsin State Open once again,” said Joe Stadler, executive director of WPGA. “They take great pride in hosting this championship and the courses always deliver. The conditioning is as good as it gets and every time they identify a worthy champion.”

The  final event in the three tournament State Open Series is the 41st Wisconsin State Senior Open on September 2-3, hosted on the Player Course at Destination Geneva National. After the Wisconsin State Open took place on the Trevino and Palmer courses at Geneva National in 2019, it is now time for their third 18-hole layout to shine. Mick Smith (Summit) will be back to defend his title, as he has produced a solid start to 2025, after making the 36-hole cut at the Senior PGA Championship in late May.
