Street League Skateboarding, the world’s premier professional skateboarding organization, announced more details on the return of the SLS Championship Tour to the Pacific Northwest. Street skateboarding’s marquee competition series is back on a global scale this year with events spanning both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere, and Everett will host the tour’s second stop with all-important series points on the line. The two-day weekend event, presented by Visible, is coming to Angel of the Winds Arena August 13-14.
Tickets are on sale now and will be available at StreetLeague.com. Two-day weekend tickets start at $39 each, while VIP packages featuring floor seating plus premium amenities such as private cash bar and restroom access are available for $349 (all prices are plus additional taxes and fees).
This year, fifty of the sport’s best skaters and biggest personalities, including defending SLS Super Crown champions Jagger Eaton (USA) and Pamela Rosa (BRA), SLS icons Nyjah Huston (USA) and Rayssa Leal (BRA) as well as the full Tokyo Olympic Games podium led by gold medalists Yuto Horigome (JPN) and Momiji Nishiya (JPN), will vie for the 2022 SLS Super Crown World Championship. Horigome, who is a multiple SLS event winner in addition to being the first Olympic street skateboarding gold medalist, is competing in Street League for the first time since 2019.
Everett’s Angel of the Winds Arena will host the second stop of the 2022 SLS Championship Tour, and marks the first time that Street League has visited the Seattle area since 2011. It will follow the Jacksonville, FL series kickoff on July 16-17. After Everett, the Tour will head to Las Vegas, NV on October 8-9. Each contest will determine the field of skaters who will battle for street skateboarding’s ultimate prize, the Super Crown World Championship, coming to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on November 5-6.
In 2021, the SLS Championship Tour went back to its roots, reverting to its original roster size and streamlining its contest format to rave reviews from the industry. The changes created more immediacy and excitement for skaters and audiences alike. That innovation will continue in 2022, with more format updates to be announced.
Each SLS Championship Tour stop will also once again feature custom-designed skate plazas that challenge top pros and up-and-coming talents, pushing them to take skateboarding to new heights. These best-in-class live event experiences offer thrilling entertainment for millions of fans, both those watching from more than 150 countries worldwide as well as the thousands of thrilled fans experiencing the high-energy competition in person.
Sean Malto, SLS Super Crown World Champion and one of the most recognized figures in street skateboarding, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing Street League back on the world stage and back in arenas. The energy of the fans inside an arena during an SLS event is unlike any other skate contest. Mix that energy with the world’s best skaters and a spot in the SLS Super Crown World Championship Final on the line, you know you’re going to witness something amazing.”
Joe Carr, CEO of Thrill One Sports and Entertainment – SLS’ parent company, said: “For over a decade, SLS has paved the way for street skateboarding’s rise and created a generation of fans with its unrivaled live event experience. We are thrilled to return to the Pacific Northwest and bring the excitement of elite skate competition to Everett this summer. The area’s creative energy and adventurous spirit is at the heart of everything that SLS is about.”
The second round of the 2022 SLS Championship tour is presented by Visible and supported by the Snohomish County Sports Commission.
