It's FBI vs. Secret Service on the Lacrosse Field This Week
15 Oct, 2021
In 2019, agents and officers from the United States Secret Service and Federal Bureau of Investigation came together at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Maryland, to play in the inaugural lacrosse game between the two historic law enforcement agencies. The event enhanced the long-standing partnership between the agencies while raising funds for law enforcement charities. The USSS and FBI partnered with Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.), a charity solely dedicated to providing resources to families, co-workers and survivors of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. Each year 140-160 officers are killed in the line of duty with family members and co-workers left behind. C.O.P.S. provides essential resources to help rebuild their shattered lives.
Each May, during National Police Week (NPW), the United States government recognizes the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officials while paying tribute to those killed in the line of duty. The USSS and FBI worked closely with C.O.P.S. to hold this game during the May 2019 NPW. With the dedicated support of USA Lacrosse, an enthusiastic crowd witnessed an exciting match as the USSS escaped with a close victory. Both agency Directors and USA Lacrosse executives were in attendance and all proceeds from the event were presented directly to C.O.P.S. representatives.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 NPW events were cancelled with 2021 events postponed until October 2021. The USSS and FBI have again partnered with USA Lacrosse and C.O.P.S. to meet for a much-anticipated rematch on October 16, 2021 at the St. James Sports, Wellness, and Entertainment Complex in Springfield, Virginia. Tickets will be sold at the door and all are encouraged to attend.
