Round Rock to Host NIRSA National Football Championships This Weekend

The Sports Capital of Texas is hosting yet another high-powered collegiate sports competition this weekend. The National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) Flag Football Championships kick off Friday, Jan. 3 and take place through Sunday, Jan. 5. The NIRSA Flag Football Championships feature the country’s top men’s and women’s collegiate flag football teams competing in a fun, fast-paced outdoor football game for a chance to take home the NIRSA national title. The tournament is officially hosted by St. Edward’s University Campus Recreation, Southwestern University Intramural and Recreational Activities, The University of Texas at Austin Recreational Sports and the official host partner City of Round Rock.

The NIRSA Flag Football Championships are part of the NIRSA Championship Series, a series of professionally organized recreational college tournaments in the sports of flag football, soccer, tennis and basketball.

ABOUT ROUND ROCK MULTIPURPOSE COMPLEX -  Located at 2001 N. Kenney Fort Blvd. within Old Settlers Park, the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex is a $27 million state-of-the-art sports venue that enables Round Rock to host many new types of events, such as lacrosse, soccer, rugby, ultimate frisbee, flag football and more. The 60-acre sports complex features a championship field with natural grass, another championship field with synthetic turf, four multipurpose fields with natural grass and four with synthetic turf, and Musco sports lighting on all 10 fields.
