The South Carolina Sports Alliance (SCSA) is a new organization whose purpose is to grow, promote and enhance the sports industry in South Carolina.

South Carolina is home to some of the most recognizable and desirable destinations for the sports industry. The SCSA is a non-profit organization that provides a forum for the exchange of information, ideas, and support among its members from throughout the state.

As a state, the SCSA will strive to make South Carolina the premier destination to host any professional, amateur, and collegiate sporting event. Members of the SCSA will recruit events by attending premier sports trade shows, as well as advertising in nationally known sports publications. Members will work to establish ongoing relationships with sports event organizers to secure new and repeat business.

The SCSA currently has 25 members comprised of CVBs, parks and recreation departments, sports venues, sports commissions, and other related organizations. Some of the membership benefits include cost-sharing to decrease trade show costs, access to all leads generated at sports trade shows, state alliance website with quick links to partner websites, and scholarship opportunities for trade show registrations. In addition, members will be afforded the opportunity to participate in cooperative advertising.

The SCSA is excited to partner with the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism in promoting the state as a top sports event destination. “Sports are big in South Carolina, and have an opportunity to become even greater with such wise collaboration within our industry,” said Duane Parrish, Director of SCPRT.  “We’re happy to do our part to promote South Carolina as a great place to host sporting events.”

“Having 25 partners throughout the state come together in just six months time to form an organization which will be promoted on a national level makes a huge statement about South Carolina and the sports tourism industry,” said Auvis Cole of the Rock Hill/York County CVB and President of the SCSA.
