Golf Tourism Solutions and Barefoot Resort, home to four award-winning courses, will host the Myrtle Beach CanAm Cup now through March 9. The event will bring 12-man Canadian and American teams together to compete in a 54-hole Ryder Cup-style.

The CanAm Cup was born out of a partnership between Golf Tourism Solutions, the agency responsible for promoting Myrtle Beach as a golf destination, and Golf Ontario, the association that oversees the game in Canada’s most populous province.

The American team is captained by former PGA Tour players Carl Paulson and Dennis Paulson (no relation), who host the popular “Inside the Ropes” show on Sirius/XM radio. The Canadian squad is led by Dave Hemstad, an Ontario-based comedian and actor, and Mark Zecchino, host of Golf Talk Canada, one of the country’s most popular golf radio shows.

“The CanAm Cup is an opportunity to showcase Myrtle Beach to American and Canadian golfers as we head into the heart of the spring golf season,” said Bill Golden, CEO of Golf Tourism Solutions. “We can’t wait to welcome our friends from North of the border to golf’s most popular destination for a friendly competition and a good time on and off the course.”

Play will begin with better ball matches on Barefoot Resort’s Love Course Thursday at 8:20 a.m., followed by another morning of better ball matches Friday on the Norman Course. Friday afternoon, teams will play alternate shot on the Fazio Course, and the event will conclude with better ball matches Saturday morning on the Dye Course.

Three of Barefoot’s four courses - Fazio, Love, Dye - have been ranked among America’s top 100 public courses, and the property is universally regarded as one of the Palmetto State’s finest.
