College Fishing Championship Ready to Cast Off in Lake Murray

College fishing’s longest-running National Championship is set to be contested for a 16th straight season in 2021. The BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shopsis making its way to Lake Murray in South Carolina in just over a month. This two-day traditional five-bass limit event will take place May 26th-27th at Dreher Island State Park. Two hundred of the top collegiate bass fishing teams in the nation will be competing for the prestigious BoatUS Collegiate Championship title as well as tens of thousands of dollars in prizes & contingencies and following the conclusion of tournament competition one school will be named Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia.

Championship week is one of the most anticipated events of the entire season out on the Bass Pro Shops Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. To find out if you and/or your school qualified to compete in the 2021 Championship, view the complete Championship qualification criteria here. If your school has a recognized bass fishing club or team, then you automatically receive the opportunity to send one boat to compete at Lake Murray. 

Additionally, a school will earn another qualification spot for up to two ACA events in which a member of the team competed in to be combined with the automatic qualification, for a max total of three qualification spots. For teams ranked in the Top 25 of the Bass Pro Shops School of the Year presented by Abu Garcia as of May 7, 2021, they will qualify to send a maximum total of four boats per this designation. Also new for the 2020-2021 season, the Top 5 finishing anglers/teams at three ACA ran events automatically qualify for the Championship. These qualification spots do not count towards a team’s maximum total.
