Myrtle Beach Golf Notes Surge in Play

Myrtle Beach’s peak spring golf season closed with a flourish. The Myrtle Beach golf community, which ranges from Georgetown, S.C. to Brunswick County, N.C., enjoyed a surge in both rounds and revenue in May.

Golf’s most popular destination played 306,081 rounds in May, according to data collected by the Myrtle Beach Area Golf Course Owners Association, an increase of more than 10 percent over the same time in 2018. Just as importantly, courses enjoyed a 17 percent increase in revenue.

“May is one of the most important months on the golf calendar, so we are obviously delighted with increases in rounds and revenue,” said Bill Golden, CEO of Golf Tourism Solutions, the agency responsible for marketing Myrtle Beach as a golf destination. “Myrtle Beach golf courses are in prime condition in May, and we’ve worked tirelessly to promote the virtues of a spring trip.”

The Myrtle Beach market has already played nearly 1.5 million rounds in 2019, highlighting the area’s enduring popularity to traveling golfers and its appeal to retirees looking for a destination that provides quality and value.
