Presque Isle State Park Set to Host Event for Third Straight Year August 13

The Erie Sports Commission is pleased to announce the Soccer in the Sand Nationwide Series is returning to Erie on Saturday, August 13. This one-day beach soccer tournament will take place at Presque Isle State Park’s Beach 11.

Soccer in the Sand is a competitive, five-on-five tournament that promises to be a fun and high scoring event. All teams are guaranteed three bracket games throughout the day, which consist of two 12-minute halves and a three-minute halftime. Teams will also have the opportunity to advance into a semifinal and final match based on their three-game preliminary record.

The local partnering soccer club for the event is The Erie Admirals.

Participants will be grouped into divisions that are separated by age as listed: under-8 through under-18 boys and girls, men, women, and adult coed. The minimum roster size must consist of five, but may not exceed a limit of 11. As recommended by Soccer in the Sand officials, an ideal roster should consist of seven to nine players.

Registration is $315 per team with a deadline of August 1.

“Over the past few years, our tournament has continued to grow in Erie at Presque Isle State Park,” said Tournament Director Scott Lemay. “The Erie Admirals and the Erie Sports Commission have always been a pleasure to work with and with a new year of soccer just beginning, we’re looking forward to another great event in August.”

“Erie has so many exceptional venues, and the fact that we have access to such a great one in Presque Isle State Park to host this event, is quite a privilege,” said Ron Sertz, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission. “Soccer in the Sand has always been a great event that brings soccer enthusiasts of all ages together on our beaches, and we are pleased to be able to say we support this tournament with the Erie Admirals.”
