Youth softball teams from around the region will take over Erie County’s softball fields as the 8th Annual Erie Frost Softball Battle of Lake Erie Tournament takes place Friday-Sunday at multiple complexes including the David Long Complex at Walnut Creek Middle School and Harborcreek Community Park.

Regarded as one of the region's premier youth softball tournaments, the event is set to attract more than 70 teams from Ohio, New York and Pennsylvania. The event will also help raise funds for a local college softball coach as teams “Play for Bri” on Saturday. Funds raised will benefit Brianna Lee, an assistant coach at PennWest Edinboro and breast cancer survivor who is now battling cancer a second time.

According to Mark Jeanneret, Executive Director of the Erie Sports Commission, "The Battle of Lake Erie has become a staple event in our region's sports calendar, and we are incredibly excited to host this gathering once again. This tournament not only highlights the talent and dedication of the participating athletes but also showcases Erie County as a destination for youth sports. We look forward to welcoming teams and families from near and far to enjoy the amenities and hospitality that Erie has to offer."

The Battle of Lake Erie serves as a platform for talented young athletes to showcase their skills in a competitive atmosphere. With teams participating in six different divisions - 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U - there will be non-stop action and intense competition throughout the weekend.

“The Battle of Lake Erie is a rewarding experience for young athletes, providing them with the opportunity to play high-level softball. We take pride in creating a competitive and supportive environment where their skills can flourish and dreams can come alive,” said Erie Frost Board Member Brian Sanders. “It's a celebration of youth sports, bringing together teams from across the region while strengthening our community.”
