Canadian Baseball History Conference Ready to Begin

The Canadian Baseball History Conference is all set for Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the University of Windsor downtown campus (Windsor Hall-Pitt-Ferry Building). There will be two full days of research presentations and discussion of any and all aspects of the history of baseball in Canada. The schedule includes such varied topics as integrated baseball in Canadian forces overseas in World War I, attempts to establish the United States Negro League in Canada in the 1940s, and prairie baseball in the 1950s, featuring a conversation with a former player with Saskatchewan’s Delisle Gems.

 

The timing of the Conference coincides with the publication of the inaugural issue of the new Journal of Canadian Baseball, a joint initiative of the University of Windsor and the Centre for Canadian Baseball Research.

 

There will be 16 presentations during the weekend including topics such as:

Harry Simmons – the Major League Schedule Maker from 1952 to 1982
