Route 66 is one of the most famous roads in the world. Each year, millions flock to activities and events all along the route, generating millions in revenue for local communities. Originally conceived as a motorcycle road rally, Cycle 66's founders believed it was time for Edmond to get in on the action.
This year's ride will be held on November 5.
State and local leaders loved the idea, but also wanted to redefine how to “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” for a new generation. That’s when the concept shifted gears from motorcycling to bicycling, capitalizing on Edmond’s reputation as an active community and a “Great Place to Grow.”
A true collaboration, Cycle 66 was officially formed as a combination urban/rural bicycling tour that highlighted communities and businesses along the Mother Road, beginning and ending in downtown Edmond.
