Sports Scientist Announced as Keynote Speaker for Endurance Exchange 2024

USA Triathlon has announced that physiologist, sports scientist and coach Iñigo San Millán will serve as keynote speaker for the fifth annual Endurance Exchange conference. USA Triathlon’s endurance sports industry & athlete conference is scheduled for January 4-7, 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

With live sessions presented by coaches, race directors and industry professionals, Endurance Exchange features a mix of hands-on, experiential learning workshops and lecture experiences to educate athletes, coaches, race directors and members of the multisport community.

Over the span of his 27-year career, Iñigo San Millán has made contributions to the fields of endurance sport, metabolic health, and performance optimization. He has been a pioneer in the development of new methodologies for athletic performance, such as physiological and metabolic assessment and protocols to assess mitochondrial function, nutrition, glycogen measurement and overtraining.

San Millán received his doctorate in physiology from the School of Medicine at the University of the Basque Country. He has since worked with many elite and professional athletes, including coaching 2020 and 2021 Tour de France winner, Tadej Pogačar, Olympic medallists and world champions in sports such track & field, swimming, triathlon, rowing and also professional soccer, basketball, and hockey. San Millán has also served as a consultant for several professional sports teams and is a sought-after speaker and educator in the sports science community.

In his Endurance Exchange keynote presentation, titled ‘The Multidisciplinary Scientific Preparation and Monitoring of the Endurance Athlete’, San Millán will share some takeaways of his research, which focuses on the interplay between genetics, lifestyle, and performance, with a particular emphasis on how athletes can optimize their training and nutrition to achieve their full potential.

Endurance Exchange 2024 will take place at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the university’s Popp Martin Student Union. The conference will feature an expo showcasing new products, innovations and brands in the endurance sports community; and each day of Endurance Exchange will include group workouts, in addition to hands-on learning and networking sessions.

Professionals will have the opportunity to earn USA Triathlon Coaching and Race Director Certification at Endurance Exchange. The conference will also include the Race Director Summit, a day dedicated exclusively for race directors. In addition to having access to all sessions, expo and networking happy hours, attendees will be able to access all recorded sessions on-demand.
