One of Billings' largest citywide sporting events returns this weekend as nearly 300 volleyball teams converge on the city for Big Sky VolleyFest, May 3-4, 2025.
Matches will be played across 41 courts throughout Yellowstone County, with the majority of the action taking place at MetraPark. Big Sky VolleyFest has quickly grown into one of the premier youth sports tournaments in the region, drawing thousands of athletes, coaches, families, and fans to Billings.
With teams traveling from across Montana and surrounding states, the event is expected to generate a projected $3 million in local economic impact through lodging, dining, shopping, and other visitor spending.
"This tournament is a showcase of how sports tourism can drive real economic benefits for our community," said Casey Conlon, sports director for Visit Billings. "The sheer number of teams and their families coming to Billings fills hotels, restaurants, and attractions all weekend long. Big Sky VolleyFest has grown into a signature event for our city, and we’re proud to welcome these athletes and their supporters back to Billings."
“Big Sky VolleyFest is one of the best weekends of the year — a fun, high-energy event that brings together players, coaches, and staff for a memorable experience,” said Craig Allred, tournament director for Big Sky VolleyFest. “It wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our amazing team and the continued support from our partners. We’re so thankful for the great relationships we’ve built over the years.”
Visit Billings, in partnership with Big Sky VolleyFest and local volleyball organizers, continues to support Big Sky VolleyFest’s expansion as part of broader efforts to elevate Billings as a competitive sports destination.
