Holland Aquatic Center, in Holland, Michigan, has long had the lock on everything event owners need for competitive swimming and diving. This state-of-the-art facility has hosted top meets from local and state events to national championships at all levels (including the NCAA DIII Men’s and Women’s Championships).

The Aquatic Center has facilities many event owners have on their wish lists: two one-meter and two three-meter diving boards, an eight-lane, 50-meter competitive pool with a movable bulkhead that allows it to be configured in a variety of ways, and a 25-yard, six-lane warm-up pool and diving well. The facility also boasts the Colorado Time System and Scoreboard. The spectator area features a permanent elevated bleacher area with seating capacity for 600 (plus additional on-deck seating).

And right now, the Aquatic Center is getting ready for its close-up as it reopens to the public with a host of all-new facilities and amenities. Curious? Here’s a sneak peek at what you’ll find within our walls as a result of those recent upgrades:

  • Covered entryway for the convenience of athletes and spectators, allowing for safe four-season access for all visitors and bus drop offs
  • Expanded lobby that allows for more efficient check-in and crowd control
  • Warm-water leisure pool
  • All-new 6-lane lap pool
  • Updated and expanded children’s play area featuring a zero-entry wading pool, a lazy river and a larger water slide
  • An indoor track, available to athletes and trainers
  • A large spa, steam room and sauna
  • Fitness space
  • Group fitness classroom

The official opening, planned for January 31 (just days away!), comes two and a half years after Holland voters passed a bond millage renewal in May 2019, designating funds for the center’s renovation and expansion to support additional use capabilities. It also makes it a more marketable, family-friendly destination that can support not only competitive use at the highest level, but cross-training – as well as fun.

Holland is a favorite Michigan vacation destination. Famous for its warm sandy beaches, historic downtown and unique Dutch attractions, Holland is in Southwest Michigan just three hours from Chicago and Detroit. It is served by the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, Muskegon County Airport and West Michigan Regional Airport.

Looking for places for your athletes to stay? You’ll find a variety of hotels in different price points, from luxury accommodations to suite-style properties to economy and efficiency lodging. All are convenient to the Aquatic Center. You’ll also find plenty of restaurants, from casual dining to upscale eateries, with a mix of familiar brand names and unique independent businesses.

In short, at Holland Aquatic Center, as well as the community that it calls home, you’ll find everything you need for competitors, spectators, officials and families. We look forward to showing you what we can do and how we can use our expanded capabilities to serve your event.
