KidSport Winnipeg and Mark Scheifele, Winnipeg Jets forward and KidSport Winnipeg Athlete Ambassador, are pleased to announce the 5th Annual Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp will take place June 22 and 23, 2019 at the Bell MTS Iceplex.
The two-day hockey camp is open to boys and girls aged 5-12, and features both skater and goalie-specific training sessions. Scheifele, along with expert coaches from the Winnipeg Jets' Development Team will provide kids with fundamental and advanced on-ice skills training and off-ice multi-sport instruction.
“I can’t wait to get back on the ice with the kids again,” said Scheifele. “The energy and enthusiasm they bring are contagious and connecting with them over the sport we all love makes it such a fun weekend for everybody involved. I’m grateful to be in a position where I can help the kids on the ice and at the same time know that what we are doing will help get so many other kids in the community into the sport they love and want to play.”
The hockey camp beneficiary is KidSport Winnipeg and all proceeds will help pay the registration fees for kids who cannot participate in sport due to financial barriers.
“Celebrating its fifth year, the Annual Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp in support of KidSport has become a highly sought-after event with many kids returning year after year,” said Rick McGregor, Co-Chair, KidSport Winnipeg. “Led by Mark and his enthusiastic on-ice approach and personal interaction with all of the kids, the camp has become a major success due to Mark’s leadership and the team efforts of our great sponsors and the many volunteers of KidSport Winnipeg. In the end, the biggest winners are the many local Winnipeg youth who receive financial assistance from KidSport to get involved in amateur sports of all descriptions, thanks to the funds raised at this great event.”
Registration is now open. Find registration and camp information online at: kidsportcanada.ca/manitoba/winnipeg
