16 Mar, 2020
The current situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus) in the United States is evolving and changing daily. With that in mind, USA Racquetball is cancellingthe upcoming 2020 National Intercollegiate Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The championship was scheduled to take place March 25-28th.
Please understand that USA Racquetball worked continuously with both LSU and Visit Baton Rouge to hostthis tournament for our valued intercollegiate racquetball players. Like many other universities in the United States, Louisiana State University has closedits campus, cancelling sporting events that were to be hosted on campusand students arecontinuingtheir education remotely. Without a viable location, and no time or possibility to find a new and safe venue, we have no other choice but to cancel this great event.
All three organizationswere very excited for the opportunity to host an event in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. USA Racquetball will be looking to hold another championship in Baton Rouge in the 2021 season.
All athletes and schools will receive a full refund for their tournament fees.
Once again, we understand that this was a competition many of you were looking forward to, as were we; however, this is an extraordinary situation, and our top priority is to keep our athletes and all members safe.
