Thousands of Athletes Expected to Compete in Active Ankle Bluegrass Tournament

Volleyball players from across the region will showcase their skills and future potential at the Kentucky Exposition Center Friday, March 7 – Sunday, March 9 during the Active Ankle Showcase and Bluegrass Tournament.  More than 20,000 athletes and spectators on more than 730 teams will compete on more than 120 courts filling the North Hall, East Hall and South Wing A.

The goal of the tournament is to bring together the best junior volleyball players, from very competitive clubs to young teams at their first big competition. Teams range from the 10 and under age group to seniors in high school.

Friday night’s showcase event offers college coaches an opportunity to see some of the top uncommitted volleyball players from across the country. Players will be tested and demonstrate their skills in front of a large number of college coaches and recruiters from Division I, II, III and NAIA schools.

Competition begins Saturday and Sunday at 8 a.m. with two rounds of pool play before moving into the playoff elimination rounds. Players from Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy, Union Volleyball Club, Mid-America Volleyball Association and other local teams will compete in the tournament.

Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the door. Parking at the Kentucky Exposition Center is $8 per vehicle.
