Elizabethtown Tourism & Convention Bureau (ETCB) Board of Directors approved the hiring of Janna Clark as the new Executive Director. In January 2019, the ETCB Commission appointed a search committee to begin accepting applications for the position. The members of the committee included Board Members Heidi Patterson, Carl Swope, and Todd Pollard, along with Mayor Jeff Gregory.

They narrowed down the many applicants to four interviewees, all from across the country, and ultimately decided Clark was the best candidate for the position.

“Janna is the perfect person for the role of Executive Director.” Stated Carl Swope, Chair of ETCB Board, “Her relationship with the community, experience, and leadership skills will be a great advantage for the tourism bureau.”

Clark has been a part of Elizabethtown Tourism & Convention Bureau since 2009, last year she was named Director of Sports Development. Clark was also in charge of the process to select the management firm to run the sports park. She will begin transitioning into the role of Executive Director immediately, but her official start date is April 1.

“We wanted to make sure we were finding the perfect candidate for the job, regardless of their location to Elizabethtown.” Stated Mayor Jeff Gregory, “We knew Janna’s experience and skill set with tourism and sports industries were a great asset for Elizabethtown Tourism and the Elizabethtown Sports Park.”

Clark commented on her new role, stating, “I greatly appreciate the confidence our Board of Directors and Mayor Gregory have placed in me to have a broader effect on tourism growth for Elizabethtown. I’m a collaborator at heart and look forward to working with local businesses and attractions to enhance visitor experiences and expand our reach in promoting this amazing city.”

Clark’s professional background includes success in the association management industry and meeting planning fields, working with Lexington-based Host Communications. She has led multiple fundraising campaigns and events, including corporate events for national nonprofits. Clark has served on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Sports Authority and the National Association of Sports Commissions, where she chaired the Mentoring and Membership Engagement Committee. Clark has authored articles for tourism publications and spoken at national conferences, focusing on the economic impact of hosting events.
