Facility to be Known as the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex, to Receive New Fields, Logo, Uniforms and More

Thanks to $625,000 from Scheels All Sports, the Overland Park Soccer Complex will get new turf fields — and a new name.

The Overland Park Convention & Visitors Bureau shared the news recently.

According to an article in the Kansas City Star, Scheels All Sports secured the naming rights for the facility, which is the highest level of sponsorship available at the complex. The five-year sponsorship will cost the sporting goods retailer $625,000.

In addition, Scheels will be responsible for all initial signage costs, including design, fabrication and installation to rename the complex the Scheels Overland Park Soccer Complex. It will also provide $4,000 for new uniforms with the new name and logo.

The city plans to use the sponsorship money for field turf replacement.

Scheels, based out of North Dakota, is scheduled to open in Overland Park, near 135th Street and Metcalf Avenue, in late June.

“We’ve received nothing but open arms from the community, so we’re excited to create this partnership,” said Lucas Hachmeister, assistant store leader for Scheels.
