Hawaii VCB Announces Running, Endurance Events

Competitions Will Be Staged on All Islands

 

The Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau (HVCB) has announced the scheduling of several endurance events, all of which are expected to draw participants from across the nation.

May 19, 2013: Honolulu Triathlon (Oahu) – This Olympic distance triathlon based at Ala Moana Beach Park features a 1.5K swim along the shore for spectator viewing, 40K bike course along Oahu’s south shore and a 10K double loop run. The run course finishes at Magic Island where the Honolulu Triathlon Health and Fitness Expo begins the day before the race. For more information, visit HonoluluTriathlon.com.

June 1, 2013: Ironman 70.3 Hawaii Triathlon (Hawaii Island) – This triathlon is a qualifying event for the Ironman World Championship held in October. The Olympic distance race is comprised of a 1.2 mile swim at Hapuna Beach Park, 56 mile bike ride on the legendary Queen Kaahumanu Highway, and 13.1 mile run through Mauna Lani Resort’s breathtaking grounds. July 28, 2013: Tinman Triathlon (Oahu) – Inspired by the Ironman Triathlon in Kona on Hawaii Island, the Tinman Triathlon challenges and inspires all participants. October 12, 2013: Ironman World Championship (Hawaii Island) – Witness 1,700 of the strongest triathletes compete in one of the biggest challenges that sports has to offer, the Ironman World Championship in Kona. The endurance test includes a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.2-mile marathon run through tough ocean waves and challenging lava-covered terrain.
