The United States Tennis Association, Palm Beach County Sports Commission, and City of Delray Beach announced the Davis Cup, which is the World Cup of Tennis, will take place at the Delray Beach Tennis Center on September 12-13. The competition features a best-of-five match series between the best men’s tennis players from the United States and Czechia. The Davis Cup is played over two days, with the winner advancing to compete for the 2025 Davis Cup Championship.
The Qualifier will feature two singles matches beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 12, then a doubles match and two more singles matches beginning at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 13. The first nation between the USA and Czechia to win three out of those five matches wins the Qualifier and will advance to the eight-nation Davis Cup Final Eight to compete for the championship November 18-23 in Bologna, Italy.
Both the USA and Czechia will name as many as five players to their competing rosters no later than August 15. The United States’ captain is International Tennis Hall of Fame member and U.S. Davis Cup Champion Bob Bryan, whose teams in recent years have featured all of the top-ranked American men, including Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe.
Founded in 1900, Davis Cup is the premier team competition in men’s professional tennis and is the world’s largest annual international team competition in sport, with over 150 nations competing. The Davis Cup is owned and managed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the USTA oversees the United States’ participation in the Davis Cup.
This event represents only the second time the Davis Cup has taken place at the Delray Beach Tennis Center with the last time being in 2004. The Billie Jean King Cup, which is the women’s tennis equivalent to the Davis Cup, has taken place five times at the Delray Beach Tennis Center.
Delray Beach has historically provided a veritable home-court advantage for the USA in international team tennis competition. The U.S. Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup teams are 5-0 all-time when competing at the Delray Beach Tennis Center. The U.S. Davis Cup Team last played in Delray in 2004 and defeated Sweden with Andy Roddick, Mardy Fish, and Bob and Mike Bryan. The U.S. Billie Jean King Cup Team played a Qualifier at the Delray Beach Tennis Center in 2023 and swept Austria behind local native Coco Gauff—an event that generated nearly $1 million for the local economy and captured an international audience of tennis fans across the globe.
“The Palm Beach County Sports Commission is honored to welcome the Davis Cup back to The Palm Beaches,” said George Linley, Executive Director of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. “As the world’s premier international men’s team tennis event, the Davis Cup will engage fans across the globe while delivering a significant boost to the local hospitality and business community.”
“We are excited to welcome the Davis Cup to the Sunshine State and Delray Beach this September,” said Laura Bowen, Executive Director, USTA Florida. “We’ve watched many of our team players grow up on our local courts. To have them back in Florida representing the United States at a world-class team event is truly special.”
