Sunshine State Games Grass Volleyball Series Coming to Jacksonville

The Florida Region of USA Volleyball has partnered with the Florida Sports Foundation to present the Sunshine State Games Grass Volleyball Series, a tour of six events leading up to a State Championship in November. The series is for volleyball enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Each of the stops will benefit a local charity.

Sunshine State Games Grass Volleyball Series Tour Dates Stop 1 - August 16, Jacksonville – JU Dolphin Green – Jacksonville University Stop 2 – August 23, Gainesville - Flavet Field - University of Florida Stop 3 – September 6, Clearwater – Eddie C. Moore Park Stop 4 – September 20, Fort Myers – Estero Recreation Center Stop 5 – October 11, Sarasota – 17th Street Park Stop 6 – October 25, Fort Lauderdale - Holiday Inn Sunrise – Holiday Inn Sports Complex State Championships – November 8, Tavares –Hickory Point Recreation Park

“We encourage anyone, despite your skill level, to come out and try a day of Grass Volleyball for charity,” said Florida Sports Foundation Senior Vice President Stephen Rodriguez. “If you’ve played Volleyball in PE class, gather your friends, family or co-workers and create a team to support local charities. This is a great team building opportunity for local businesses as well!”

Steve Bishop, Executive Director and President of the Florida Region of USA Volleyball, says that his region is honored to join in a partnership with the Florida Sports Foundation for the first ever Sunshine State Games Grass Volleyball Series. “Our collective goal is to take the game of volleyball to new participants and at the same time create a way to support local charities in the host communities. We are hopeful corporations, first responders and hospitality teams will come out for a day of fun in the sun and help ‘Kick Some Grass for Charity!’”

All teams participating in one of the six Florida stops are eligible to compete in the State Championships in November. Divisions are available for Recreational Adult Coed 6's, Competitive Adult Coed 4's and Junior 6's (Girls/Boys 16 & Up Only). The Junior 6 division will not be available at all locations. The registration fee for the Competitive Adult Coed 4's division teams is $100, Recreational Adult Coed 6's is $150 and Junior 6's (Girls 16-18) is $100. Team VIP fees are also available for an additional cost. The VIP fees include lunch, water during the event, and access to the VIP area.
