Florida Sports Foundation Announces Five Qualifying Events for Senior Athletes

It’s less than 60 days until the opening day of the 2018 Florida Senior Games, presented by Humana. Between now and December 1, there are five chances remaining to qualify for the 2018 Games and compete for an opportunity to represent the Sunshine State in the 2019 National Senior Games taking place in Albuquerque, New Mexico, June 14-25, 2019.
 
Registration is now open for the 2018 Florida Senior Games, presented by Humana. Entry fees vary by sport as the online registration deadline is November 18. Athletes can also download registration forms at www.floridaseniorgames.com and return the printed forms with payment to the Florida Sports Foundation.
 
Florida athletes, age 50 and over, wishing to compete in one of the sports needing a qualifying performance can contact one of the Local Qualifiers listed below for competition and registration information.  Registration for the Tampa Bay Active Live Games, that begin on Friday, has closed. 
 
Some of the most popular sports of the Florida Senior Games have four qualifying opportunities remaining. Offered at the Cutler Bay Senior Games, Ormond Beach Senior Games, Martin County Senior Games and the Golden Age Games in Sanford are Bowling, Pickleball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis and Track and Field. 
 
The 27th Annual Florida Senior Games, to be held December 1-9 in Clearwater and Pinellas County, are a qualifier for the 2019 National Senior Games.

Open Sports Not Needing a Qualifying Performance: Archery, Bag Toss, Basketball 3 on 3, Billiards, Lawn Bowls, Powerlifting, Race Walk, Racquetball, Road Race, Tai Chi, and Volleyball.  All other sports require a qualifying performance.
