Travelers from Akron/Canton, Ohio received a warm welcome upon arrival at Daytona Beach International Airport (DAB). The flight out of Akron/Canton airport (CAK) is the fifth offered by low-cost carrier Breeze Airways and is offered twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Breeze began service at DAB in November of 2024 and currently offers twice weekly service to each of the following destinations:
- Akron/Canton/Cleveland (CAK)
- Westchester County-New York, NY (HPN)
- Hartford, CT (BDL)
- Raleigh-Durham, NC (RDU)
- Providence, RI (PVD)
The new flights provide a significant boost for the local economy. Cyrus Callum, director of Volusia County’s Aviation & Economic Resources department says each new flight adds to the overall economic impact of the county-managed airport.
“Daytona Beach International Airport is a major economic engine for the region—and according to the Florida Department of Transportation, DAB’s economic impact is $3.2 billion a year,” said Callum. “Every time an airline adds a new flight, the economic impact to the community multiplies! This is the fifth new flight by Breeze, and it demonstrates the confidence the carrier has in our community.”
Airport Director Karen Feaster added this latest destination shows continued commitment from the carrier.
“Breeze is strengthening its commitment to our community by introducing this new nonstop route—this time to a popular Midwestern destination, marking the first nonstop service to that region from Daytona Beach,” said Feaster.
“Our community has embraced Breeze since they launched service here in November, and we’re excited about the continued growth and opportunities this ‘very nice’ airline brings,” Feaster added.
