Elite International Track Cyclists to Descend on Memorial Park for Fourth Straight Year

The U.S. Olympic Training Center will host three U.S. Grand Prix events featuring elite international track cyclists throughout July at the Velodrome in Memorial Park. The world-class events are part of the nine-race 2015 USA Cycling National Track Calendar, which returns to Colorado Springs, Colorado, for the fourth straight year.

The three-event series is comprised of the U.S. Independence Day Grand Prix (July 3-4), the U.S. Grand Prix of Colorado Springs (July 7-8) and the U.S. Vic Williams Memorial Grand Prix (July 10-11). Each event is open to the public.

The series will feature approximately 100 elite track cyclists representing 11 nations from around the world, including the United States, Canada, Ecuador, Finland, Great Britain, Guatemala, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and South Africa.

Each Grand Prix will offer elite cyclists the chance to earn qualifying points for the upcoming UCI Track Cycling World Cup. Participants will contest various sprint and endurance events over the nine-day period.

The world’s fastest cyclists travel to Colorado Springs annually to train and compete at the Velodrome. Nations represented in the last three years have also included Australia, Colombia, Germany, Holland, India, Mexico, Scotland and Venezuela.

Admission is $10 per session for adults and $5 per session for children under 12. Sessions are scheduled to begin daily at 9 a.m. Visit TeamUSA.org/CSOTC to view the complete schedule for each event.
