This month's Outlier Offroad Festival, to be held in Vail, Colo., will feature a consumer demo, enduro and cross-country racing, kids' activities, a nearby farmer's market, art fair, and distilled spirits festival, and events aimed at the cycling media. The event is Friday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Sept. 27. The first day is open only to the media and VIPs.

The festival is sponsored by SRAM and Scott and being produced by Mike McCormark's Uncommon Communications. Uncommon also produces the Breck Epic offroad stage race and does PR and communications for brands including BH Bikes, Ergon Bike, and Alchemy Cycles.

Organizers are promising that the event will create a meeting place for the industry's media, suppliers and enthusiasts.

"The vision is to create the single largest MTB event in North America. We want to keep it inexpensive for the bike industry ... and make it a slam-dunk media event for the vertical and active outdoor media," organizers said. They said it will resemble the GoPro Games (a multi-sport event held in Vail each June, formerly called the Teva Games), "but cycling focused ... with a few notes of Sea Otter, Crankworks, PressCamp and Interbike thrown in."

The event will give some consumers their first look at products introduced at Interbike, which closes Sept. 18. More information: outlier.bike.
