CSC Announces Legacy of Ice Event

Dec 22, 2017

Join us on January, 20, 2018 at The Broadmoor for the Legacy of Ice to honor those who came to coach and train, as well as those who left indelible tracings on our memories. The evening will also salute Broadmoor Skating Club member and Colorado College alumnus, Peggy Fleming Jenkins, as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of her Olympic Gold Medal win in Grenoble, France, the only gold that Team USA would win that year in any sport.

From its debut in 1938 until it closed in 1994, The Broadmoor Ice Palace - later called The Broadmoor World Arena - was the epicenter of skating in the West. Home to Broadmoor Skating Club, Broadmoor Curling, Broadmoor Speed Skating, and for many years Colorado College Hockey, it was a special place that created memories for all those who entered its doors. National and World Champions trained there. Olympians called it home. Join us as we honor all things ice and where it all began, when Spencer Penrose saw the future at Chicago ice show with Sonja Henie in 1937, and converted the hotel's indoor riding arena into one of the most revered and internationally recognized venues in the annals of sport.

A portion of the proceeds benefit the U.S. Figure Skating Memorial Fund, as well as the U.S.A. Hockey Foundation supporting the next generation of athletes.
