When athletes from 206 nations, including the powerful 2016 United States Olympic Team, march into the 79,000 seat Maracanã stadium in Rio de Janeiro on the evening of Friday, August 5, thousands of fans in Colorado Springs, Olympic City USA, will be watching a live broadcast of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games Opening Ceremony on a 27-foot jumbotron beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The Rio Olympic Downtown Celebration will celebrate the beginning of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympic Games from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. in downtown Colorado Springs. This celebration is a city-wide event, free and open to the public, including thousands of Olympic fans in Colorado Springs and across the state.

Colorado Springs is the heart of the nation's Olympic movement, where a timeless culture of achievement, national pride and dedication sits comfortably alongside awe-inspiring beauty and unparalleled natural training grounds. The city is home to the United States Olympic Committee Headquarters, and more than 59 National or International Sport Organizations, including 24 National Governing Bodies of Sport, the United States Olympic Training Center and the future United States Olympic Museum and Hall of Fame.

The incomparable celebration will feature live entertainment, interactive activities for kids and families, and food! The theme is "Brazilian Carnival" so appropriate dress is encouraged, or support Team USA and wear red, white and blue.
