The Colorado Springs Sports Corporation (Sports Corp) and the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region are excited to announce their partnership in co-hosting the Colorado Senior Games presented by Medicare Mentors, set to take place from June 6-8, 2025, in Colorado Springs. This landmark event marks the nationwide celebration of senior athleticism and community, bringing back a long-awaited opportunity for Colorado seniors to showcase their talents and stay active. Leveraging their event expertise, Sports Corp and the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region are bringing this exciting celebration of athleticism and community spirit to seniors throughout Colorado.

The Colorado Senior Games will feature a wide array of sports and activities tailored for participants aged 50 and older, including track and field, pickleball, and more. The event aims to promote health, wellness, and camaraderie among senior athletes, while also highlighting the vibrant spirit of Colorado’s senior community.

“We are incredibly excited to host the Colorado Senior Games in partnership with the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region,” said Megan Leatham, President & CEO of the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation. “By working together, we are creating a premier event that brings seniors from across Colorado together to compete, stay active, and celebrate their achievements. I’m so excited for this event, but I must admit, I’m a little bummed I can’t participate myself! We’re confident this partnership will make a lasting impact, and we deeply appreciate the support of our partners, especially Medicare Mentors. I can’t wait to see it grow.”

Boyd Williams, CEO and President of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event: "The YMCA, serving locally for nearly 150 years, remains the largest provider of programs and activities for older adults in the Pikes Peak Region and remains committed to building community. We are proud to partner with The Sports Corp in bringing the Senior Games to Colorado Springs. This will provide yet another way to engage the senior population in their pursuit of wellbeing, fitness and healthy lifestyles."

Governor Polis expressed his support for the new event; "Colorado is a national leader in supporting older adults and an incredible hub for sports, so it’s only natural that we bring the Colorado Senior Games back. This event showcases the remarkable talents of our senior athletes and highlights the vibrant and active lifestyle Colorado is known for. We are proud to join the nationwide celebration of senior athleticism, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on our senior population and our state as a whole."

As a member of the National Senior Games Association (NSGA), the Colorado Senior Games will be the official State Senior Games for Colorado and a qualifying event for the National Senior Games.

“We are thrilled that Senior Games will return to Colorado under the committed leadership of The Sports Corp and YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region.” said Susan Hlavacek, NSGA President & CEO. “There’s no age limit on the joy of competition, and Senior Games provide a welcoming environment for athletes to challenge themselves. We encourage all Coloradans ages 50+ to get involved and experience the health and well-being benefits of active aging.”

Registration for the Colorado Senior Games will open on February 1, 2025. Seniors of all skill levels are encouraged to participate, whether they are seasoned athletes or looking to try something new. Information on registration, events, and volunteering opportunities will be available on coloradoseniorgames.org.

This collaboration between Sports Corp and the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region reflects a shared commitment to filling the gap in senior athletic events. Together, they aim to produce a high-quality annual event that will continue to serve and inspire Colorado seniors for years to come.
