Women's Player Field Announced for 2026 San Diego Open Professional Tennis Tournament

Tournament officials have announced the women’s player field for the upcoming San Diego Open professional tennis tournament scheduled for Monday, January 26 through Sunday, February 1, 2026 at Barnes Tennis Center 4490 W. Point Loma Blvd., San Diego, CA, 92107.


Canada's Marina Stakusic will headline an impressive international player field for the $100,000 International Tennis Federation Women's World Tennis Tour event. The 21-year-old Canadian, who began her professional tennis career in 2019 at age 14, is ranked No. 127 in the WTA singles rankings after reaching a career-high No. 114 in early 2025. 


In 2023, Stakusic helped lead Canada to its first title ever in the Billie Jean King Cup international team competition in Seville, Spain. For additional information on Stakusic, click here.  


Other entrants in the women’s player field include: Dominika Salkova of Czechia (No. 142),  Varvara Lepchenko of United States (No. 143),  Darja Vidmanova of Czechia (No. 145), Julia Riera of Argentina (No. 178), Ana Sofia Sanchez of Mexico (No. 188) and Brazil's Laura Pigossi (No. 198).  


Americans Kayla Day and Louisa Chirico, a pair of former USTA Billie Jean King Girls’ 18s National Champions who won titles at Barnes Tennis Center, are also entered in the women’s player field.  

  
Day, a 26-year-old native of Santa Barbara, Calif., is ranked No. 177 in the WTA Singles rankings. She reached a career-high No. 84 in 2024. Day won the Girls’ 18s singles title in 2016. 


The 29-year-old Chirico, a native of Westchester, N.Y., is ranked No. 173 in the WTA Singles rankings. She achieved a career-high No. 58 in late 2016.  Chirico captured the Girls’ 18s doubles title with fellow American Katerina Stewart in 2014.

The 2026 San Diego Open will also feature a 100-level men’s ATP Challenger tournament offering $177,000 in total prize money.  To view the list of entrants for the men’s and women’s player fields, click here. (List is subject to change.)


“We are excited to see a strong women’s player field that features quite a few young, up-and-coming players along with several tour veterans,” said Co-Tournament Director Ryan Redondo. “With our impressive men’s and women’s player fields, the 2026 San Diego Open professional tennis event will be a tournament to remember.”

 
Matches will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, January 26 through Thursday, January 29, and at Noon on Friday, January 30 through Sunday, February 1. Gates at Barnes Tennis Center will open one hour before the first match each day.

 
Tickets are now on sale at: www.tixr.com/groups/barnestenniscenter. Ticket prices range from $25 for General Admission to early-round matches to $45 for Reserved Seating on the final weekend.

 
Qualifying matches will highlight Opening Day of the tournament on Monday, January 26. There will be free admission on that day for all fans in attendance. All Youth 17 & under will receive free General Admission Grounds Access from Tuesday, January 27 through Saturday, January 31 with a ticketed adult.

 
The men’s ATP Challenger will feature a 32-player men’s singles draw and a 16-team men’s doubles draw, along with a 24-player men’s qualifying singles draw. Singles and doubles champions will receive 100 ATP ranking points.

 
The ITF women’s 100 tournament will feature a 32-player women’s singles draw and a 16-team women’s doubles draw, along with a 24-player women’s qualifying singles draw.  Singles and doubles champions will receive 100 WTA Ranking points.
