Tournament officials for the 2023 Cymbiotika San Diego Open Presented by ResMed have announced a full schedule of special events during the WTA 500 tournament which began on Saturday, September 9 and runs through Saturday, September 16 at Barnes Tennis Center, 4490 W Point Loma Blvd, San Diego, CA 92107.The following special events will take place during the tournament:Tuesday, September 12San Diego Tennis Night Presented by San Diego District Tennis AssociationThe 5:30 p.m. Evening Session has been designated as San Diego Tennis Night. The Cymbiotika San Diego Open will celebrate San Diego Tennis as the tournament salutes the SDDTA and local clubs in an on-court ceremony following the first WTA singles match.Wednesday, September 13Rady Children’s Hospital NightThe Cymbiotika San Diego Open joins the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric health care to celebrate wellness with an ACEing Autism hitting demo on Stadium Court at 5:10 p.m. prior to the start of the 5:30 p.m. Evening Session.Thursday, September 14Rady Children’s Hospital Celebrity MatchThe 11:30 a.m. Day Session will feature two WTA quarterfinal singles matches followed by a special Celebrity Tennis Match featuring musician Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy) and TV star Jeff Probst (Survivor) on Stadium Court.Cymbiotika Health & Wellness NightThe Cymbiotika San Diego Open will celebrate health and wellness with activities and a special educational mental health discussion with a WTA professional from 5:05 to 5:20 p.m. in the Cymbiotika Wellness Village at the tournament venue.Friday, September 15Calidi Biotherapeutics Filipino Heritage DayThe 11:30 a.m. Day Session will feature a WTA doubles semifinal match and a WTA singles semifinal match. Following the first match, the tournament will honor the rich heritage of Filipinos in America's Finest City with an on-court ceremony.Cymbiotika San Diego Open Women’s Empowerment NightPresented by Calidi BiotherapeuticsThe 5:30 p.m. Evening Session will feature a WTA singles semifinal match followed by a WTA doubles semifinal match. During the evening, the Cymbiotika San Diego Open will honor amazing women and heroes of the WTA who have paved the way to inspire girls and women of all ages. Videos of the honorees will be shown on the video board and a special on-court ceremony to recognize the honorees will take place following the WTA singles semifinal match.  (Special Events are subject to change)“We are happy to offer these special events to enhance the fan experience at the Cymbiotika San Diego Open,” said Tournament Director Ryan Redondo. “Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy celebrity tennis matches in addition to learning more about health and wellness. The tournament is also going to recognize the military, members of the tennis community, and our honorees during Women’s Empowerment Night.”The 2023 Cymbiotika San Diego Open will offer $780,637 in prize money and have a 28-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw. Qualifying rounds were played September 9-10 with Main Draw matches on September 11 and concluding with the singles and doubles final on September 16.The starting times for each day of the 2023 Cymbiotika San Diego Open will be as follows:Main Draw Day Sessions – Monday, September 11 — Friday, September 15 – 11:30 a.m.Main Draw Evening Sessions – Monday, September 11 — Friday, September 15 – 5:30 p.m.  Doubles Championship – Saturday, September 16 – 1:30 p.m.Singles Championship – Saturday, September 16 – 4 p.m.  (All times are PDT)Tickets, which range from $25 per day for General Admission seating during Qualifying Rounds  to $275 for VIP seating on the final day of the tournament, are currently on sale at SeatGeek.com which can be accessed through the official tournament website at https://wtasdopen.com/.World No. 1 Iga Swiatek of Poland captured the singles title at last year's inaugural San Diego Open with a thrilling 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 victory over Donna Vekic of Croatia before a capacity crowd on Stadium Court at Barnes Tennis Center. Gauff and fellow American Jessica Pegula defeated Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski and Giuliana Olmos of Mexico 1-6, 7-5, 10-4 to win the doubles championship.
