The Giant Race Ready to Run in San Fran

This weekend, twenty thousand sports fans will descend on AT&T Park in San Francisco, home of the World Champion San Francisco Giants. But they won't be there to see a game- they'll be taking the field at one of California's best ballparks - after they run a half-marathon, 10K, 5K or kids race.

In just five years, participation in The Giant Race has grown 7-fold, from 3,000 runners to an anticipated 20,000 next week. Running's popularity has surged during that time (see Running USA's annual reports for details) and so has that of the Giants.
