2023 USTA National 40 Hard Court Championships set for November 27 through December 3 at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club

The United States Tennis Association’s National 40 Hard Court Championships will take place Monday, November 27 through Sunday, December 3, 2023 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, 2000 Spindrift Dr, La Jolla, CA 92037Tournament competition is slated for Men and Women in singles, doubles and mixed doubles events for players 40 and over (players must reach or exceed the age of 40 at any time in this calendar year to be eligible). Participants will include former touring pros and the nation’s strongest players in this age group.The seven-day event at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club will feature singles and doubles matches starting November 27.  Tournament matches are scheduled each day of the week, with the finals scheduled for December 3.    “We are anticipating a very strong player field for this year-end national tennis tournament,” said Bill Kellogg, Tournament Director and President of La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. “Henry Choi of Vancouver, Canada, our defending men’s singles champion and Mariko Fritz-Krockow of Orinda, California, our defending women’s singles champion, are among the entrants in this year’s event. It’s going to be an exciting week with many nationally ranked players in this age division competing for titles.  Also on the agenda is the USTA National Father/Son and Grandfather/Grandson Hard Court Doubles Championships beginning Friday, December 1, with matches concluding Sunday, December 3. The Father/Son championship has been held continuously at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club since 1959, and attracts the top father and son tennis teams in the nation.  The Grandfather/Grandson Championship is a relatively new competitive division that started at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club in 2003. Draws will be posted at the Beach Club and will be available the week of November 20 via LJBTC.com.USTA Gold, Silver and Bronze balls will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in all events.Schedules and match times for individual events will be determined by the number of entries in each event. Men's and Women's singles and doubles are expected to start Monday, November 27. Mixed doubles are expected to start Tuesday, November 28. Father/Son and Grandfather/Grandson Doubles are expected to play their first matches on the morning of Friday, December 1.La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club welcomes tennis spectators to the tournament with free admission. Onsite parking is available for a nominal fee.The USTA National 40 Hard Court Championships are part of the International Tennis Federation World Tennis Masters Tour. Formerly known as the ITF Seniors Tour, the recently rebranded Masters Tour includes individual and team singles, doubles and mixed doubles events across various grade levels for each five-year age increment from 30+ to 90+.
