The upcoming United States Tennis Association National Women’s Senior Hard Court Tennis Championships, a national tournament, will be played Monday, May 16, through Sunday, May 22, 2022 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, 2000 Spindrift Dr, La Jolla, CA 92037.
The best players from all over the country, ages 50 to 90+ will compete for singles and doubles titles in the 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 and over age divisions. USTA gold, silver or bronze balls will be awarded to the first, second and third place finishers in all women's events.

“We strongly encourage players to sign up for the tournament before our entry deadline,” said Tournament Director Bill Kellogg. “This national tournament traditionally features the best competitors from across the country in each of these age divisions. It’s going to be a great week for senior tennis.”
All women's events will use regular draws with feed-in consolation for draws of eight players or more. Smaller draws will play a round-robin format. Competitors will play out the third sets in main draw matches in singles and doubles, instead of using 10-point tiebreakers.
The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club’s 49th Annual Men's Senior Championships will also take place the same week in conjunction with the women’s events, and will include both singles and doubles for 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, and 85 and over age groups. Although the men’s events are not national championships, they will feature many senior players who regularly compete in national tournaments.
As COVID restrictions have been eased, the tournament will host its traditional beach barbecue (weather permitting) on Tuesday, May 17 and the formal player reception on the evening of Thursday, May 19. Both events are open to competitors and their guests.
The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club welcomes tennis enthusiasts to view the tournament and will offer free admission to spectators for the entire tournament. On-site parking is available for a nominal fee.
The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club started each of these events and has hosted them since inception. Designated one of the Top 50 Tennis Resorts in the world by Tennis Resorts Online, the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club's reputation as a top tennis destination started in 1942 when it attracted its first major tournament, the Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championship.
