NJCAA Softball All-Star Team Kicks Off Canadian Open Play July 4

2 Jul, 2015

As the United States commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence Saturday, NJCAA student-athletes from around the nation will begin play in the 2015 Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championship.

Competing against six national teams and a pair of select programs, the roster of 16 graduating sophomores from 12 NJCAA member colleges will square off against some of the world’s elite players over the course of a week before entering a nine-team, double-elimination bracket. Their opening game in pool play will be against Basque County, a travel team from Spain that will be seeking revenge for a 13-3 loss to the NJCAA All-Stars in the 2014 tournament.

Other teams on the schedule include the Canadian select Rivercity Hornets, Team Canada, Team Cuba, Team Dominican Republic, Team Mexico, Team Japan and Team Puerto Rico. Click here for the NJCAA All-Stars’ complete pool play schedule.
