3rd Annual Port City Football Classic
Ladd-Peebles Stadium
November 15
Mississippi Valley State University will host Alabama State University in the 3rd Annual Port City Classic at Ladd-Peebles Stadium on Saturday, November 15. The Port City Classic is the ultimate "party with a purpose" combining entertainment, education, and African-American culture and heritage. Several events lead up to game day, including the HBCU Golf Tournament, the HBCU Summit, the Southern Soul Tailgate Jam, the HBCU Cheer Clinic, the Port City Classic Parade, and the Tailgate Cookoff Competition and Concert. Don't miss the kickoff at 4 p.m.
USS Alabama Battleship Park
November 16
A patriotic run to honor those who serve! The Publix Battleship 12K was started in 2015 as a way to pay tribute to those heroes who defend our freedom. Runners will experience a sense of patriotism when finishing alongside the USS Alabama at Battleship Memorial Park. Come out and support our heroes by participating in this patriotic race (or come out and cheer for the finishers)!
Gulf Coast Clash High School Wrestling Tournament
Mobile Convention Center
November 21 - 22
The 7th annual Gulf Coast Clash, presented by the Mobile Sports Authority, is Friday, November 21st, and Saturday, November 22nd, at the Mobile Convention Center. This year’s tournament features over 100 teams from the southeastern United States, including multiple defending state championship teams and individuals!
Admission for spectators - $20 per day (5 and under are free)
Tickets are available at the door and online through GOFAN.
40th Annual Lyons Park Turkey Day Tennis Classic
Mobile Tennis Center
November 21 - 23
This much-anticipated tournament takes place at the Mobile Tennis Center days before the Thanksgiving holiday. As always, the Turkey Day Classic is a fun-filled three days of food, prizes, and competition. It is open to all ages 18 and above.
This tournament benefits the New Lyons Park Tennis Association programs, tutoring, and other initiatives.
Fun fact - this is the only tournament in the U.S. where the winner receives both a first-place trophy and a turkey!
